Hi everyone, several weeks ago I was given sulphazalazine by the consultant and had a lot of problems with it with hideous side effects. Spoke to the rheummy murse who said to persevere for a week and ring back. Persevered, but couldnt do it so decided between us that I would see how things went for a couple of weeks just taking mx hydroxy a celebrex etc and of course regular pain killers. Its not working, but am very very nervous about taking another dmard as the suplh was so awful!! I had hoped that things would settle down as I thought that because I had got so tired after my daughters prom that once I hadcaught up with my sleep, things would be better. Ive woken up thismorning, as normal, stiff, but both index finger knuckles are red andswollen, something that hasnt happened for quite a while. So, ive plucked up the courage and an waiting for a call back. Sounds really pathetic doesnt it, I really really hate this illness and the control that it seems to have one me sometimes.
Sorry to sound so miserable, Fridays are usually a bit bleurgh for me as I take mx on a thursday!
Hope you are all ok out there.
lots of love
Heatherxxx

Sorry to hear Heather that you have been so poorly, this situation really is so hard to cope with and you really need lots of understanding from your rheumy team.
Hope things get sorted for you very soon.

Heather, so sorry you have these problems, and you are not moaning, we all have a right to be pain free. Glad you contacted the nurses, thats what they are there for. I hated sulfa too, many problems, now on mtx and hydroxy, with tramadol and paracetemol. I was told off by the consultant for not contacting them when I had a flare, he said it is important to be seen when problems arise. I know how you feel about taking another DMARD he wants to try leflunomide when I go back next month. I hope you get seen soon and that you will feel better xBARBARA

Hi Heather
Sorry you're having problems, I think you should speak to your team and get things sorted. I shouldn't be too worried about trying another DMARD, you may well find the next one doesn't have the same side effects, probably won 't have any at all.
Hang in there if you can!
